09/04/10 20th Anniversary Dinner - Venue Announced

09 Apr 2010

Lady and gentlemen Breakers

Not long to go before the start of the season so I thought I would just flag up a few details to make you aware of what we are planning currently.

Next year the Richmond Leg Breakers celebrate their 20th anniversary, which for someone like me who was there for the first ball ever delivered as a new team, is a little alarming! However the club is still evolving very well and injuries permitting, I am looking forward to this coming season very much.

The Richmond Leg Breakers have a ten year connection with the Lords Indoor School for our nets, indoor game and AGM venue, therefore it seems only right that we celebrate our 20th anniversary at Lords. I have therfore booked for our end of season dinner Friday 11th November 2011, the Writing Room which is located over the home dressing room in the Pavilion. The room has a magnificent view of the ground. We intend to push the boat out for this occasion so no expense will be spared to make sure members all have a most memorable evening.

No doubt the plan may be adjusted but in essence the evening should pan out like so:

Champagne reception in the Bowlers Bar with square illuminated and club details on the score boards.
Tour of the ground (subject to interest).
Three course meal to be enjoyed in style.

This is not going to be cheap, room hire alone is £1250 (would have been £2500 if William Powell was not a member of the MCC) so it is my intention to, with the help of a sub committee (Oliver, David C, Andy A and William P), to drive for fund raising over the next 2 seasons to reduce the per head costs. The web site will carry all the latest information relating to fund raising events and will hopefully run a totaliser so we can all monitor progress.

If any of you have any ideas of ways in which we can raise funds please let me know, however small the projected amount maybe! We will kick off the fund raising with the clubs 2010 Fantasy Cricket League which Mark Southey will launch this week. Ideas currently being mooted are Barn Dance, Casino and or Race night, auctions and BBQ's.

Very exciting!

Look forward to seeing you all during the season.
