                                     Match Details

In what the umpire described as the highest scoring indoor game he had ever seen at Lords, the Captain's VIII beat the  President's VIII in this year's end of season match with both teams scoring over 200. South Australians Phil Killicoat and Laclan Heyson opened the batting for the Captain and managed to do what the Aussie openers couldn't do last summer by putting on 50 without losing a wicket at Lords. Trevor nurdled and nudged 79 with Alex and then young debutant Sam Kremer showed that he's actually learnt something from his beach cricket over the years with Uncle Andy putting on 79 with your skipper including a well hit 6. Hard hitting Kamal and Chappo decided to end the innings with fireworks and added 65 for the last wicket. 269-6 off 16 overs.

In reply, the President's VIII got off a shaky start and were minus 11 after Lachlan's first over. Rob May and Jon S then calmed down and thanks to some buffet bowling from Phil managed to put on 57 for the first wicket to give the President the lead after the first 4 over spell. The President and Harry started well but lost 5 wickets through some good catching and were 13 behind at the halfway stage. Bunny and Jack Kremer got a little bit too excited about the 'ball always in play' rule and lost too many wickets chasing the runs, leaving Mark and Burnsey to get 125 off the last 4 overs. They had a pretty good go against some hostile bowling from Kamal and although they scored 81, the loss of 4 wickets cost them 20 runs and the President's VIII ended their innings on 206-18.

The scorebook says that the Captain's VIII won by 63 runs but excluding runs lost to wickets, there was only 3 runs in it. Great performances from everyone. Good to see the youngsters getting involved and some old faces back in the net. The trophy returns to the Captain's cabinet after an absence of a year if Mark can find it. Rumour has it that Claire has hidden it.

Thanks to everyone for making it a good night out and see you all after Christmas in the nets.
