Annual Indoor Cricket Match 2008
PRESIDENT’S VIII v CAPTAIN’S VIII
Friday 5th December
Match Report

Another fine night out for the Club with a number of record performances.
Batting first, the President's VIII amassed a mighty 195 against the Captain's VIII with all four pairs scoring well and Emily's brother, Andrew, exciting the interest of the selectors on his first appearance for the club.
In reply, the Captain's VIII got off to a flying start with Justin R and Paul Bird adopting the Vishwen Sehwag approach to a run chase. They realised too late however that the tactic of hitting a six and then getting out would not help to achieve the total, and it was always going to be an uphill struggle when the second pair started with the score on 5.
An excellent performance from Emily and Rebbeca Lawley batting third (with a little help from Justin Caple's bowling) put the Captain's VIII in with a shout with the last pair needing 134 off 4 overs! Disappointingly though, even Chappo's big hitting and gamesmanship was not enough and the Captain's VIII finished on 97, just as Tony B had
finally adjusted his jockstrap and entered the net to complete the VIII some 2 hours late.
A record even by Tony's standards!!
President's VIII won by 98 runs walking off with a shiny new trophy from Mark's loft.
