TOUR - Ferndown Wayfarers v Richmond Leg Breakers Cricket Club Sunday XI on Sat 17 Jul 2010 at 1pm
Richmond Leg Breakers Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report On Saturday morning, Jon Southey auctioned off the new kit in the pub garden before the team made their way towards the New Forest, or Lilliput as it turned out, for the game against Ferndown Wayfarers on the outskirts of Wimborne. This is the point at which I have to thank the Fixtures Secretary for organising the games, but next year I must remind him that we are allowed to play against sides taller than he is and that not everyone in the team has been CRB checked.

Ferndown ‘Colts’ won the toss and surprisingly elected to bat but after Will and Mark S had reduced them to 9-3 off 5 overs, it was time to give others a bowl in order to avoid an early finish and a 'lemonade' match.

Oliver P, Will King and Kamal bowled tidily in contrast to Jon King and Bunny's pie throwing but it was left to the wicket keepers in the side to serve up a buffet and give the boys a few runs. Risking a fine for beer avoidance, your skipper agreed to extend the game to a 40 over match helping the Wayfarers to finish on 122-6.

Bunny and Andy Angel opened the batting whilst the remainder of the team digested their jelly and ice cream. Andy hit a 4 over square leg but was then caught out playing the same shot. Oliver joined Bunny and they played themselves in for the next 12 overs whilst the crowd went to sleep. 28-1 off 13 overs. A change of umpires allowed your skipper to issue a 'hit out or get out’ instruction and they raced along to 53 before Oliver was given lbw for 21 in the 16th over. Bunny continued to attack the bowling and before we knew it, he was four runs off his first 50 for the club, only to be denied by that old fox, John King and his twitchy finger.

Mark Southey was promoted up the order in an attempt to get his batting average down (too much gloating) but with Kamal hitting 22 of the 25th over, the game finished with Legbreakers winning by 7 wickets and Mark's average even higher!

Champage moment: The 25th over

Breakers' Man of the Match: Bunny for his 46.
