Richmond Leg Breakers Cricket Club Won by 4 wickets

Match report MATCH REPORT

Breakers continue their unbeaten season with another comfortable win.
Pleasing to say that the catching gremlins are keeping their distance this season with another 4 catches on the run of 13 now without a drop. Methinks a jug is in order for the first drop of the season...
Perfect weather conditions greeted us at Denham for this the second fixture at this great club. Having won the toss, Denham elected to bat, which was not surprising as the pitch looked particularly bat friendly.
With the USA returning what for them, was a good result Saturday night, for us, the result was an extra yard of pace in our own yankee doodle dandy, Scott, the day after! His enthused contribution kept the runs down both with his accurate bowling and, fielding/footballing skills, displaying excellent dribbling just within the boundary line. Mark A continues to be efficient and successful returning figures of 3 for 14 off 7 inc. 3 maidens... keep it going Mark. One of Marks' wickets was taken in the slips by the mad ferret himself, John Sanders.... to all you youngsters out there, its amazing what a roast beef dinner and half a bottle of claret can do for fine tuning those cricketing skills pre match! Chappo, dismissing the oppo skip (76), the most important wicket of the match, with a perfect outside off stump delivery knicked to Tom who took it with ease behind. Our guests, Faranz (cousin of Kamal) and David S also showed their potential with good spells each. Faranz with a very whippy action (part of the Naqui gene pool methinks) returned figures of 1 for 21 off his 6. David was also tidy with a very good action. Breakers had the run rate pretty damn tidy for the first half of the match with DCC on 55 for 5 and then their skip with support shaped up to take the score to 142.
Good to see Steve Elder walk out to open the batting. He showed good potential for the remainder of the season should he hopefully join us again. The bowling attack was varied but needed coming forward for which is exactly what Chappo, Mark A, Jon S and Faranz did with their combined effort of 14. 4's and the rest. This was in support of my man of the match, Tom, who constructed a great innings, showing maturity and patience. Champagne moment? Tom... last shot of the match - a six to make his unbeaten 50!! Brilliant. Good to see Malcolm, his father watch the moment with pride. Thank you Malcolm for helping out with the umpiring.
We are on a roll. Well done guys and it was a pleasure to be skip for the day.
